Epiphany - The Obama Diet

I was watching O do his thing at Congress tonight and I couldn't help but acknowledge that he really is good for the country... though perhaps not for the same reasons that you are thinking of. See, even though we all know that Obesity has reached pandemic proportions here and that heart disease is almost as sure as taxes, still, most of us are reluctant to take up an exercise regimen to battle the gut-factor...

And yet, as shy as we are about exercising, I saw a whole house, congress that is, do an aerobics routine that must have been the envy of many a T.V. exercise guru.... sit up, stand, clap... sit, wait a couple of minutes... what did he say, oh! stand up, clap, sit... wait another couple of min.... and on and on for nearly an hour, he managed to get those creaky knees and elbows working in a manner such that would remove any doubt in anyone's mind that the American people aren't, as he claimed, the hardest working people in the world.

I mean, if O would make these speeches four days a week, congress would soon become a lean mean machine fit to lead the American people to a healthier if not necessarily wealthier future. That is, of course, if they take his example and go out and repeat his speech verbatim, with the necessary pauses and hand articulations, to their constituents.

Party pooper alert.

I watched him speak with some gov't folks after he was elected and, I realised, I'm so over Obama's supposed eloquence. Of late, it feels put on and manipulative and not as natural as it was in the beginning - middle of his political campaign.

I suppose giving a few thousand (I'm guesstimating) speeches can make anyone jaded.

O has a way with people, for sure. He plays to whichever crowd he's talking to, but I'd like to think he isn't ill-intentioned. I try really hard to believe everything he says, but with a healthy dose of salt. He is, after all, a politician.

In any case, I'd much rather listen to him than his half-witted predecessor. Could never listen to him and not have a hard time keeping my food down.

:D You are a meanie...'creaky knees and elbows?'

On a separate point altogether, I agree with MO, I loved Obash at the height of his campaign, but since he was sworn in, I stopped being mesmerised. It's not that cool anymore! Then again, maybe we are just getting used to it till it becomes boring.

Don't be too hard on O. I can imagine what amount of pressure he must put himself under to be president of all people and not of just of one faction and to appear so as he addresses them all. Its a tight balancin act on a very high rope and I think he is walking it as good as can be expected.
